tuesday's (yesterday) has been one eventful day at school. first this irritating man comes into the HOD room asking for this HOD who was at HOD meeting. spare u the irritating details. then i confronted this student who lied about doing her punishment when she didn't even do a single thing during science. then during english i made a startling discovery - my students are expecting to be spoon-fed!! well...now i know when it first manifests...this phenomenen that will continue through out their sec sch and jc days unless something is done... but then again this is a little different 'cos my students expect the answer to be right in their face so all they do is just copy. in the end at the end of one hour...some groups were still thinking of the story they were supposed to come up with...when 3 other groups have finished.

spoon feeding is not uncommon during my days as a student. my bio tutor from jc used to say our jc's mascot should be a gigantic spoon. true we did get a lot of help from our tutors - revision lecture notes which were really really useful (our lecture notes were really good too...), tutorials, answers, supplementary stuff etc. everything was given to us with a fee of 5 cents per piece of paper from the Zap! but i have to admit although it contributes to our laziness, it helped us a lot. at least it helped me a lot...to sieve through the big piles of notes was just too time consuming. i often wondered if my jc were to be like raffles..to throw us into the deep end of the ocean (not pool)..would my jc people still survive through the rigours of A levels? Is this the key to the many "successes" of rafflesians? i have friends who just started in raffles jc, and seems like they're already trying to tread water at the deep end of the ocean.

another point to note...will we still want to be spoon fed when we enter university? or will we be lost without lecture notes? do we now need more dictation practices and practice speed writing so that we can take notes during uni lectures? for those who took s papers, esp bio s...we weren't that spoonfed until after we did the essays...will this make us stronger? as singapore revamps its education system...is spoonfeeding becoming a growing trend or would it limit our creativity? *yawn....time for quiet time....good night...
