school has officially started...
i love
NTU a lot already.... ok go ahead and think i'm mad or whatever you want...but i can't wait to start school and face challenges again... no doubt the A-levels was traumatising as i have told the year 2s in tj just last friday... but it's entirely different. no more wonderful lecturers and tutors (ok maybe there are..but i'm quite doubtful. they maybe brilliant biologists and researches but not necessary good educators), no more uniforms...and it's bad because i take a long time to decide what to wear. guess that's gonna change now... also now with the whole living away from home experience...
i love my
room a lot...i love my room-mate a lot too...haha~ but my hall's nice...with our own tennis and squash courts, a 10 min walk away from my school. hall 7 has one of the biggest rooms in all the halls of NTU... i'm bringing my fridge (which was my sis's hostel fridge too), tv, stereo...which is enough to make my life in hostel close to home... no cable!! argh...ok..
oh yes i did bring my clay mug and the very first CD i played in my room was clay's measure of a man. ok.... been quite blessed...and i could see how concerned my parents, my sisters and my aunt are about me... paranoid...but concerned... *smiles*
yesterday was my
freshmen welcome ceremony at nanyang auditorium. it was so funny! our 2 emcees were good and engaging, from NTU school of comm studies..naturally... we were introduced to the academic procession, includes our director, NIE director, all the deans of the various schools, alumni rep and NTU students' union president. then speeches and more speeches... wasn't too boring thankfully. then we don our academic gowns (the same as what you wear during convocation, but without your degree's colours) and recited the NTU pledge...funny...and then we had a traditional lighting up ceremony where we were all given torches and we were supposed to light up row by row... truthfully i think it'll be a beautiful sight...cos it's dark and it's like NDP...BUT apparently some people (quite a lot actually..) dunno how to follow instructions and lighted up when it's not their turn... haha~ silly... had performances by the choir and a grp of international students. then had reception! food quite good...MUCH better than food provided by MOE.... =) we were given a very nice stylo organiser, a plastic file and the torch....
just got an email from my school to say they don't print notes for year one students!! all online...dunno if it's a good or bad thing...remains to be seen....
council day was a blast...seeing my seniors and juniors again...had tons of fun crapping...food was good too... =) thanks to wani...
let's see what else....i got my very nice photocard driving license... must start driving...
i just realised when i got a leaflet for career planning from NTU...that i didn't worry about that. in a way it's such a blessing having nothing to worry when i graduate..except my coming year at NIE and my grades... but as i look at it... i feel so thankful for the Lord's presence in my life and His hand leading me, and how He slowly reveals His plan for me.
oh yah!!!
i'm 19!! haha~ i can't believe i almost forgot about my birthday. family dinner at silk road...a very hip and a very good shanghainese cuisine restaurant. dunch with selina, one of the many friends i gotten to know because of clay...a journalist for ST..had a great time with her at sakae sushi. dinner at siqiu's/siyu's place with the rest of the university-bound church friends. so many were there...had a good time eating. then xian han, siyu and yiyong shared about their experiences and we sang songs. or yah teacher chen kee also shared..candidly..as usual. but it was another learning experience...
as i get on with my first semester... this verse will hopefully be always on my mind. =)
"God is with you in all that you do." -Genesis 21:22

just got back from NTU students' union orientation camp. it was fabulously fun. made so many friends, had such a great time and accumulated so many happy memories which will stay with me. and i know in my heart the friendships that i forged during this very long 6 day camp will stay with me too. my OG was exceptionally enthusiastic. we had a great team of leaders and seniors, regina my GL, one senior was from tj so we bonded instantly. we were also so lucky to have 2 very on seniors who joined us (cos when they were freshies they were in M grp too) wanru (NTUSU exco member) and sherwe our camp's chief GL. that led to so much fun during games, campfire and everything else in between. we went sentosa too...the beach games were fun..got a nice tan.. =) many many couple-oriented games..but every one was on enough to do it. went clubbing at chinablack. though i hate the concept of clubbing, the people who are drunk, plus the smoke that gets in your hair.... i love the music and the dancing...and my OG!! my whole OG was on the dance floor...dancing and singing our lungs out. it seemed to take away everything that's on your mind. a little alcohol helped too... =) hee~ but i know my limits. i was conscious of my surroundings so i was safe. plus our dear seniors really took care of us...forming a circle around my OG on the dance floor so other people couldn't come into our 'social dance circle'. i was so thankful nothing big happened...other than a small disagreement concerning 2 drunk guys, and 2 guys from my OG passing out on the sidewalk of pacific plaza...SP night was an eye-opener..my first blind date ever... thankfully my SP (secret pal) turned out to be a nice guy...who paid for dinner and was a gentleman. i miss the camp... =)
today was just talking to shermaine about our camps...she went for NUSSU camp...and my other friend thought my camp sounded nicer...more fun and happening... =) haha~ anyway met my SHSS friends to watch brotherhood. very good movie!! i cried... go watch it...
today was my driving test and i passed!! =) happy happy...
song sung by clay for his summer tour across the US... very very nice song....
You Were There
by Avalon
I wonder how it must have felt
When David stood to face Goliath on a hill
I imagine that he shook with all his might
Until You took his hand, and held on tight
'Cause You were there, You were there
In the midst of danger's snare
You were there, You were there always
You were there when the hardest fight
Seemed so out of reach
Oh, You were there, You were always there
You were always there
So there he stood upon that hill
Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill
But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans
And just in time, You brought a lamb
'Cause You were there,You were there
In the midst of the unclear
You were there, you were there always
You were there when obedience
Seemed to not make sense
You were there, You were always there
You were always there
So haven't I learned that my ways
Aren't as high as Yours are
And You alone keep the universe
From crumbling into dust
You are God and though we would
Not have understood You
There You were
Hanging blameless on a cross
You would rather die than leave us in the dark
Every moment, every planned coincidence
Just all makes sense
With Your last breath
You were there, You were there
During darkest hour
You were there, You were there always
You were the Victor and the King
You were the power in David's swing
You were the calm in Abraham
You are the God who understands
You are the strength when we have none
You are the living, Holy one
You were, You are and You will always be
the Risen Lamb of God
You were, You are and You will always be
The Risen Lamb of God

"If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice truth. But if we walk in light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another..."

school's starting....can't wait...then when it gets horrible in school...i'll start complaining about how i wish the holidays would come sooner...
this is a horrible vicious cycle...shall stop being such a prick and live life properly...
it's the
4th of july! happy birthday america! clay's gonna perform at the celebrations at washington DC!! he's singing the star spangled banner, god bless the USA and measure of a man (louisa..remember??)...
anyway have decided to go for the students' union camp...6 days...sentosa included...sounds quite fun...
joyce's back from australia!! hi joyce! went to watch spiderman 2 with her on the opening day...and it's really good!! shall not spoil it for those who haven't watched it..but there's very good character development and writing, very good script, excellent soundtrack (i'm so tempted to get it!), action and CGI sequences were very well done...tobey mcguire and james franco both look gorgeous... and kristen dunst's beauty only catches up with you after a while...and the villian? he's one of a kind! cos he's actually a nice guy at first...ok..talked too much...but go watch it..it's really good!
went mango sale part 2 with joyce....didn't spend so much..but even yvette knows i'm a shopaholic now...
yesterday was
noelle's party..her let's-party-before-starting-school party... which melody and i are also organising one for our friends... anyways it was good to catch up with my SHSS friends...on top of my usual gang... almost everyone that was remotely close to her was there! let's see... our gang...calvin, jansen, donald, davier, joshua, bjorn, benjamin, weiyu, terrence, kenneth etc.... spend most of my time there on a comfy sofa at the patio talking to joyce, jonathan, wq, then jon and wq disappeared to join sher and grace...so the guys came to talk to us...calvin started getting a bit high and drunk (we were treated to vodka, martini, scotch whisky etc...mixed with coke, sprite, punch) and the guys..talk about NS...but it was entertaining..until it got too boring...calvin started making up lyrics to his guitar playing...that was nearing midnight already...quite understandable... left at 12.30am...really tired...abit high from the drinks...but had a great time catching up with old friends whom i haven't seen since a few months ago... the guys have grown up.... =)
well...yesterday at
ypg pastor talked about the special challenge of
keeping God's commandments through understanding, through wisdom, through love and through His blessings... it was another great lesson, and extremely applicable...talked to teacher queenie for a long time...and later went to meet melody at the office and saw teacher chen kee and she told me..."all of them (tj biology year 1 students) are dead....easy paper..cannot do...essay only one page..." and i looked through one script, just to look at the questions...and it was very theory! no chim data analysis then link to theory kinda questions...which are more high level and much more difficult to score...those were easy, if-u-studied-you-can-get-full-marks kinda questions!! fill in the blanks..one phrase answers!! sigh~ wait for them to finish marking first...then see the marks...
was listening to clay's version...so here are the lyrics...very nice song...
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Clay Aiken
When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in
Your eyes
I will dry them oh
I'm on your side
Oh when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge
Over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come
To shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friends school look around I'm sailing
Right behind
Like a bridge
Over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge
Over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Your mind
Ease your mind
