studying studying studying. quoting from renchun, i'm a mugger!!
well...you gotta mug if you made a pact with all your buddies in school to get 5 distinctions and be on dean's list. hurhur.
studying in school is not bad. it's actually quite nice to study in the seminar rooms. its very very quiet and the ppl around you are ALL studying so they kind of motivate you to study too. renchun occassionally throws a ball of paper at you, oftenly the catalyst to a paperball fight. it's fun! haha~ and there's talk with edmund and stephy, fellow coursemates and mugging partners. and it's nice to see the study-too-muc-until-you-go-crazy side of them.
yes we all go crazy with those facts trying to cramp into our already too-cramped brain.
got so many post-exam plans!! can't wait for exams to be over...over. many many movies to watch too. there's goblet of fire, chronicles of narnia, sky high, the stone family and counting. i wanna get some dvds to watch while i pig out in hall during the hols. ohoh..i wanna watch lost too! and much shopping to be done. and people to meet. and carolling! christmas is coming...and there's christmas concert and youth conference.
now that i'm back home studying, i miss studying in school and in my room. now i have carlene as my studying partner. must focus focus focus!!!!!
stop thinking about post exams. stop thinking about shopping. stop thinking about good food. stop thinking about christmas. stop thinking about tv and movies.
stop thinking about sam.

how amazing it is. how life begins and grows. how each of us came from one tiny egg and sperm. how we all grew for 9 whole months in our mother's womb. and how these foetuses actually can yawn, suck their thumb (and show a preference for right or left hand), kick, frown, form a bond with his/her mother by hearing her voice each day, and even sleep and dream!
yes. the result of watching too much tv and studying biology. was watching this show on national geographic called in the womb. it's so fascinating! it traces the fetal development for 9 whole months from conception to birth. and even an up close and personal shot of this woman giving birth and how the baby's head first appears at the vaginal opening and as the mother pushes, more and more of the baby appears and the nurse actually yanks (or from my view) the baby out and also to ease the mother's pain. then only after awhile the baby starts wailing. and you know what...when we're in our mother's womb we get out oxygen from our mother and our lungs don't work at all. but upon delivery, it's like reflex and instinct, our lungs just kick in and immediately start filling with air to supply the baby with oxygen!
okok. weekends are really my tv times. i watched another episode of desperate housewives and medical investigation. ooo.. medical investigation was so cool. it was this unknown outbreak of disease that infected 25 ppl in bahamas. first they suspected it was tuberculosis cos the first symptom was chest pains. but noo...x-rays were negative. then they suspected legionellosis..haha we also learn in sch before. but nooo..bacterial cultures were negative. and 1 person died! so they worked at double the speed and discovered it was a fungal infection that is transmitted by spores. the spores were present in marijuana that patient zero was smoking and he stashed it in the vent, which spread to neighbouring rooms and the spores were left on his young daughter's sweater.
i'm such a geek.
hee so cool. last week has been studying week in school with renchun and an assorment of friends. and he gave me a ride on his bike back to hall. haha my first time. the wind was sosososo strong. but quite exhilirating. :) thanks renchun. oh and we ordered canadian pizza and KFC on 2 i'm-so-bored-of-studying nights. so one big group of friends happily pigging out on fast food gives more motivation to study more.
though.... i'm growing fat....
had a weird sudden urge to go jogging yeesterday evening. was too lazy. ha~
already making plans for post-exam activities! 22nd nov come quick!
i'm going bongus. hungry....ooo sister and brother-in-law finally arrived. dinner is served.

grips you.
exams yet again. everyone around me is starting to study! and here i am, getting distracted by tv. hurhur. just watched an old episode of CSI:miami which i discovered i haven't watch before even though i have the dvd! haha. nice episode.
the weekend was spent half-studying and half-relaxing. watched tv, slept for 3 hours in the afternoon! (i really culdn't help myself. the rain and cold was too tempting. and i was way too tired). went church, which was good. :) as always. consolation of watching medical investigation is that it's related to my microbio module! this week they touched on a water-borne infection that was spread in a catholic church, the holy water. the source came from rats! eeks. oh...and there's a bit of biostats too! there was a double-blind control clinical trial done by the hospital and complications arose in this patient, but neither the doctor nor the patient know if the drug is the real thing or the placebo.
see....so related right. i actually see the applications of what i learn on TV! so exciting.
i watched corpse bride with sam. it's so nice!! sigh. loved it a lot. good plot. nice animation. gd ol' tim burton has done it again. just discovered sis has the limited edt. dvd of nightmare before christmas. i wanna watch!
oh..but must study.
yes. study. tmr and wed are 2 free days for me to mug in school with friends.
anyways today we talked about malaria in microbio lecture. this stupid horrible parasite. it's so darn smart to evade all our defenses. it just doesn't die! many vaccines are manufactured. but they're not effective. it's killing 200-300 million a year, translating to 3000 a day.
and here i am..worrying about exams. when victims of the south asia earthquake are struggling against the cold, homeless, penniless, getting hypothermia and all sorts of infectious diseases which i learn in school. victims of hurricanes and typhoons and mother nature struggling against all odds to survive.
HIV-positive children in africa. malaria-stricken villages in africa and india. tuberculosis infecting many worldwide. the big 3 "neglected" diseases.
and we have pharmaceutical companies not willing to invest in developing countries to provide them with the necessary vaccines and drug treatments because the drugs are just too expensive for them to make a profit.
signs pointing to some herbicides being effective in killing the parasite causing malaria, but the companies manufacturing herbicide not willing to change their product to a malaria-drug treatment, 'cos the market for it is just not comparable to the billions in the herbicide market.
so as renchun put it. they would rather save plants than humans.
how nice.

argh...i hate apple.
why are they coming up with more and more yummy gadgets? one after the other?
didn't the nano just come out a few weeks ago?
and now new color ipods with longer battery life, larger color screens, ability to play videos and tv shows, store pictures, and the 30GB one is the same price as my ipod G4!!??????
ah not to mention it's now thinner. and it comes in black too.
arrghhhh....
check out the horrid temptation which ironically looks so good at www.apple.com
and i wanna complain about itunes music store! why isn't there a singapore store?? when there's an online apple singapore store...there's no itunes?
i'm always eyeing the free download of the week, but i have to register with the store...and they demand my credit card billing address. so i can't fake like i like in the states right. then i cannot download their legal free download of the week. and now! itunes 6 is out and it offers videos and tv shows download! ohman....
yes i'm the tv addict. tv shows!! and imagine if i got the new ipod and that we have a singapore itunes music store. i can download legally tv shows from the states (or wherever) and watch it on my ipod! like while travelling or something!
how cool is that.
sigh.
ok lah~ i don't hate apple.
ok study.

"We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel..."- Colossians 1:3-5
"For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;"- Colossians 1:9-11
talked about stress during ypg. peiyong, man, cedric and adine chaired wonderfully. and pastor mitch talked about handling stress. later he came to talk to me peiyong and 2 relatively new people who are yiyong's friends. he explained concepts more clearly and it was gd. beginning to see the bigger picture of faith, and within it are hope, love, trust.
first u must have faith. faith in the Lord.
defining faith.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."- Hebrews 11:1
faith that He will be there. He is in control of all things. He is there for me. to comfort me. to carry me. always.
only then can we trust. trust that He will carry me through this exams. and every other exams and obstacles and tribulations that comes my way. i've always loved the footprints story. it really warms my heart. that's why that story is in my wallet.
in choir we sang beauutiiffulll songs again! i love love love For the Glory of the Lord. it's so nice! and since it was exam period and the younger ones weren't around, there were only 20+ of us from the usual 90! so we got to sing in pairs. quite fun! i love to sing for the Lord and sing praises to Him. makes me happy.
after choir mel and i ate at kenny rogers! 2 of us ate 1/2 a chicken, 8 bones of ribs, 5 side dishes and a muffin each. i was SO full after that! it was great catching up with her. =)
ok. so the exams are coming. i must NOT panic. i should not feel stressed. because i have God with me. and He will make a way. faith. trust. hope. love.
back to more biostats! see..feel so much happier studying now. hurhur.

today we had choir! hee~ it was fun singing with my school mates. we tackled joy to the world and recorded it like 15 times and we got better each time we recorded. (: we managed to blend our voices together but still abit out of tune. still..it was amazing considering it was our first practice and we never sang with each other before.
rhoda and mingjie said i have a pop voice..can sing solo kind...haha~ more like a squeaky voice that's way too high.
exams!!! argh.
happy belated birthday to tr. aileen! (:
finally finished typing minutes of my main comm meeting. 15 pages of font 10 lah~ nightmare.
what in the world does fisher's exact probability test test for?
anyway...
pastor charlie wrote in his 'but we see Jesus' daily devotionals
"as long as sin and evil existed in the world, there would never be lasting peace on earth."this sentence just struck me hard. how true it was. how sin and evil existed in this WORLD we live in. with all the attacks and all. world peace is just too far away a thought. sorry ms universe participants.
so gotta have peace with God then. eternal peace in the heart and mind that's found through faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
faith seems to be a recurring thought nowadays.

Every new day Your glory unfolds
Filling my life with Your treasures untold
The beauty of Holiness brings worship anew
My greatest love is You
Hold me deeper into Your grace
The river that flows from the holy place
Wash over me, cleansing me through
My greatest love is Youtoday just before my microbio quiz, suddenly burst out into praise for the Lord.
This is the day, this is the day
that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made
We will rejoice, we will rejoice
and be glad in it, and be glad in it
'cos this is the day that the Lord has made
we will rejoice and be glad in it
this is the day, this is the day
that the Lord has madeamazing how every new day, His grace renews for me, and is always so sufficient.
and how He fills my life with His treasures untold. they just pop out by surprise. whether it's seconds of blissfulness or crazy laughter. or just moments of love and fuzziness.
long day indeed. mondays always get the worse of me. not too mention sucky quiz and sucky quiz marks. must look up to God for strength!
"my source of strength, my source of hope, is Christ alone."
- In Christ Aloneneed that very much as exams draw near.
just reminded of how great His love is.
