I've got good reason to be happy today!
The Lord took all my cares away.
I can't help singing what a wonderful day!
Since I found the Lord! yup. i've been humming and singing this song to myself the past week to keep myself sane. too many things are going on. i keep reminding myself to always turn to God the minute things go haywire. the minute things pile up on me and i run through the list of things to do in my head and i just blank out. because there's just so many things to do. and when that happens sometimes i really just want to cry out to God and ask Him to help. was reading matthew 11 this week and Jesus set such a good example about leading a prayerful life and being in constant communion with God. and He practised spontaneous prayer, where He would just pray to God in the middle of something, and yet in that spontaneity, He did not lose sight of who God was and His reverence and regard for the Father. just something i should learn to cultivate. yes and i need to continue reading pastor's 'teach us to pray' book. a book i had since anniversary last year and i'm only half way through. argh. stop procrastinating!!!
yup. am having crazy days with labreports and assignments to pass up, having finished one major assignment and one minor lab report, now i can finally enjoy my chinese new year, before i jump back to tutorials for wed (argh! but there's a tutorial grp 4 steamboat/bbq to look fwd to hee~) and more labreports due in the coming days. not to mention the start of crazy massive uploading of points for 700+ wsc members and volunteerism week prep going into semi-full swing and meet-ups with friends over CNY period and sending linhui off to taiwan and more CNY dinners.
so sometimes i just thank God so much for little times of relaxation and enjoyment.
like a facial and mask session to prep for CNY, followed by shopping with xinpei and linhui.
catching up with jingyi my pri sch friend who's now in CS,
having mac takeaway for dinner in my room with 5 people squashed into my little single room, watching the 9pm channel 8 show and talking to sam on skype.
crazy laughing lunches/brunches, lectures, labs, tutorials(the stupid 'da' thing during virology takes the cream of the cake man. samuel was SO funny. hahaha) with carlene edward renchun samuel (no not my bf...) champ andrea,
going to the new SIA sports club on sunday to play badminton and run 2.4km on the treadmill after not exercising properly for SO long and having bedok 85 lunch with sec sch friends, and went home to sleep before heading out to town again with parents to shop for CNY clothes! dad-sponsored shopping hee~
tutoring the boys at singapore boys hostel every thurs, and that always reminds me to be a good example and a good testimony. it's always rewarding to teach tuition to the boys, playing hangman when i taught one boy english and revising my indices while doing sec 3 math. it also reminds me to be aware of the 'other side' of our society and to not judge so harshly (yes i do judge...which is horrible!!) and to always believe that every bad person can go onto the path to righteousness if he wants to.
having yet another dinner with xinpei kailian and albert, cooking steamed eggs and talking cock with them.
yes. so thankful for times of joy in the midst of madness. so thankful for His grace. =)
time to maybe finish a lab report due next week now.
missing sam. so must bury myself with work!
hopefully june would come quick.
toodles.

work is starting to pile up in school and in CCA terms. assignments, tutorials, and more. CCA demands are horrifying. there's my volunteerism week, uploading of points for both union and wsc, weekly sessions at boys hostel and of course work is starting on the corporate social responsibility forum. and i still can't sit still. i need to start studying!! yes. 'cos people around me are so hardworking and i'm such a procrastinator. i have 2 assignments due within a month and tutorials to complete.
hee~ everyone says my happytimes sheep is so cute with a very cute expression. ok yes my vocab is limited.
i need to shop for CNY clothes! haha anyway sam is fine. we are both getting tired of answering the question, "oh so how is sam doing?". the first few times i customized my answers so each answer is different. now i just rattle the standard answer. harhar.
ohohoh! INSTEP and GIP application...ohman...so much admin to do. help...
so it's half a year more to seeing sam. time passes sssoo slow.

In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
how do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love?
Measure in love.

just discovered how amazing skype is. i can talk for free without having to worry about bills to just about anyone! ok..anyone with an internet connection. now sam is actually on the skype with me. but he has to go type some emails but we left the connection on anyway so i can hear him type. how cool is that! only the voice quality is not gd and it lags. duh.
just got clay's christmas dvd! spent money again!! and now it's time to shop for CNY clothes.
i walked through the dvd shop and i'm so tempted to buy so many dvds! but i must resist. for now i have 3rd season of OC to keep me occupied. not to mention tons of commitments, meetings and all. quite glad i'm kept busy so that i don't miss sam so much.
just had thoughts about outward vs inward beauty. the age-old debate. i wonder how many people actually do get to see the beauty that lies within each and every person? when a man tells a woman that she's beautiful, did he meant "you're so beautiful on the outside but it's never gonna last, sorry babe"? in a way i think all beautiful women in a relationship fear that the man only sees their outward beauty and when that fades into the shadows, that's where the man dumps them or something. and all women in a relationship hope that the man they love would love them for their inward and outward beauty (beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder right...). that the man loves her for who she is. not who he thinks she is, not what he sees.
and i believe that to accomplish this, it's not easy. many tears are shed, many hearts are broken, much pain and sorrow is felt. and it takes time. time to peel off all the layers that we put on. to take away the masks that we wear and the disguises that we take on when we face this world. and when 2 people finally get there, all raw and unspoilt underneath all the layers/masks, it may not be a pleasant. but i'm quite sure, to that special someone,
it's so beautiful, it's priceless.

sam's gone. =(
i need to stop moping and whining. it's so surreal when i think about it. but yet i'm so excited for him. sydney is like such a beautiful city. there's so much things to do. he has his own room. he's learning so much and seeing so much. but he's sssooo far away. sigh sigh.
now trying to hype myself up for my own INSTEP application. sisters just told me cornell in jan-march is miserably cold. oh noooo..... i can't stand the cold. esp after korea. i scared. but if i go next sem i'd miss sam like so much......... oh no...dilemma dilemma. or should i just pick another country? so exciting haha. and i haven't even done my application. hopefully hopefully i get to go with renchun. got good friend it's less scary.
ohmy...my modules this semester are horrible! try biophysics, immunology, virology, advanced biochemistry and bioinformatics. maybe i SHOULD have gone on exchange this semester. starting to get into the rhythm of things in school. including birthday celebrations and chit chatting sessions in between lessons with the gang. =)
now grace has offered to keep me company in sam's absence. feel so blessed. the Lord is so good to me, i don't deserve it.
nownow let me just list my to-do list for 2006
1. grow in my faith in God and grow in my knowledge of God's Word.
2. forge a closer relationship with God.
3. get even better grades.
4. spend more time with my family and hugo. my poor dog, i think he feels neglected.
5. lose my tummy fats by exercising more.
6. work on my friendships.
7. have everlasting joy from within.
8. be wiser and more prayerful.
9. be brave and do not run away from problems/pain/sadness.
10. sam with much faith, hope and love.
wish me luck. =)

and school starts. the first lecture was as usual, incomprehensible. and we have rupert wilmouth teaching us again. i like him. he's a gd teacher. love his slow very easy to hear british accent.
so far it has been a happening one week. helped sam pack, went for first lecture, spent the afternoon lazing around with sam. dinner plus chill with hall friends, then later supper.
watched chronicles of narnia with sam. love the christian parallels. makes me think about Jesus's scarifice on the cross and His resurrection, just like Aslan. then went to borders to catch tp on gossip and women's magazines. something i havent' done in a long long time.
then met with shermaine for dinner at liang court while waiting for a direction-blind grace to arrive at clarke quay so we can go ministry of sound. she finally arrived and we queued for 40 mins before the doors open at 9pm and we're allowed in. checked out the huge place with the different rooms of different music genres. basically it was nicer than i expected and the ciggarette smoke was not as strong as chinablack. *thumbs up for good ventilation* but it was way too crowded at the R&B room. so i like the main arena a lot 'cos there's actually space to really dance. and the music was a mix of genres, which i like 'cos you wouldn't know what's next. and we girls love singing to the music while we dance. haha. oh joyce the dancing babe joined us later. drinks weren't free. so we only had a glass each. not high enough to really let looose and dance. then went for bah kut teh supper at mohd sultan rd before heading back.
in the cab we had conversations abt the corporatisation of NTU and the hostel fees hike. which leaves me so angry and bullied into paying a lot of money just because my university is now a business corporation. had similar conversations with my wsc president and vicepresident too. $240!!! for a single room, totally unjustified. just for the fact that now NTU is going private so they need to raise the price in order to make a profit?? what nonsense is that. we're paying thousands of dollars on tuition and miscellaneous fees (plus the stupid amenities fee), not including the hundreds of dollars on textbooks, daily expenses when u stay in hall like groceries, laundry stuff, toiletries, bills and you're asking us to pay some $60/month extra just because we're going private? if you increase bit by bit, alright. but such a sudden increase, to me, is not only unfair, is totally unjustified and uinreasonable.
ok enough of complain. only had 4 hours of sleep, was late for this morning's 830am lecture, which led my friends to think i'm such a party girl. gonna nap before heading to dinner and wala's with hall friends for sam's farewell "celebration".
sigh. he's leaving this sunday. skype will become my best friend, while my school friends have promised they'll entertain me for this semester in his absence. they're the sweetest bunch. =)

the new year has passed but i'm listening to christmas carols. how strange.
but diana krall's christmas album is so nice. can't resist. also bought jamie cullum's catching tales.
i have no money left. after buying 4 tops, 2 CDs, and a range of accessories and skincare products from biotherm over the new year's weekend, with sales everywhere tempting me. i already put on a lot of self-restraint!!! so actually quite proud of myself.
slept a record of 13 hours straight. couldn't believe myself. due to the very little sleep i got the night before. spent the early morning hours chilling out with hall friends at sentosa till 3am. was fun.
2006... another challenging year. how come there's no easy year for me?? every year seems so difficult. choked with hurdles that i'm sure i'll stumble over. sure. i can see the finishing line. and the very obvious hurdles in my way. be it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, real hurdles. but it's the intangible and invisible hurdles that is scary. and though it's just another year, another 100m hurdles, what if you trip on a rock and fall? what if you get a muscle cramp at your thigh and it becomes so painful to even move an inch?
so the comfort comes in the form of the supporters watching you from the stands. they cheer you on when you stumble or fall back. they rush to your side when you fall. even when all else fails, God will always be there. His hand is that hand that will always be there. He will carry you when trouble comes, so you'll only see one set of footprints. He will run the race with you. pastor encouraged us to embark on this worthwhile journey wholeheartedly. and once goals are accomplished, exceedingly great joy will greet us at the end of it all. and that's God's very special gift to us. =)
and it makes me want to run this difficult race. to go forward by faith. faith that will see me through. faith that will see sam through his sydney semester. faith that will see xiaohan through her US semester. faith that will see linhui through her taiwan semester. faith that will see louisa through her switzerland semester. so you can see many friends are going to be away. and i'll miss them! =( but time will pass. and they'll be back before i know it. haha. let's hope so.
Forward By Faith
Lord, You are the potter and we are the clay
Mold our lives into vessels, for Your service we pray
And when we go through the fire
may You find us strong and true
as by faith we follow onward
placing our trust in You
Forward by faith
led by Your hand
willing to follow Your every command
united in spirit, together we stand
We will go forward by faith.
Help us heav'nly Father, to walk by faith and not by sight
Living each day in victr'y, by the power of Your might
Lord, work within us, according to Your will
as we yield our lives in service
Your plans to fulfill.
Forward by faith
led by Your hand
willing to follow Your every command
united in spirit, together we stand
We will go forward by faith.
Majestic'lly, in victory we'll follow on
pressing t'ward the heav'nly prize
that is ours in the name of Jesus
the name of Jesus Christ
We'll go
Forward by faith
led by Your hand
willing to follow Your every command
united in spirit, together we stand
We will go forward by faith.
Forward by Faith.
