the madness has started to creep in....
been quite swamped with stuff from ALL directions...
just had my
welfare services club's subcomm's first event...where we had elders from an old folk's home and under-privileged children from Whispering Hearts - a programme for under-privileged kids..come together at NTU for a day of interaction, games, performances and handicraft making.. it was good...not fantastic.. with a few flaws and confusion, and the occasional language barrier and crying kids...but all in all everyone enjoyed themselves in the end...on top of being a GL, finicial controller and organiser, i have to do a writeup on the event for my other WSC subcomm...publications... yes i'm mad i know...u can say i have 4 CCAs in NTU this year...
had our first
union orientation camp main comm meeting...where i'm made the secretary... it's quite a slack job.. compared to the others...but the UOC people are fun to be with...so it makes things much better... :)
in
school...lab reports are killing me! argh... i need to get more organised and force myself to STUDY and plan my time well... yes..that's the game plan... and everytime i do that i must make sure i log off my MSN!!
anyway got a project coming up, so project meetings are becoming regular...no choice about that...oh! and anyway for the FIRST time in NTU, i actually paid attention to a lecture for the full 2 hours!! because the prof's very good!! and funny..so that kept me awake...plus he'd trip over his own words in his british accent...reminds me of tr. chen kee..and he'd tell us stories that is somehow related to whatever he's teaching...(organic chemistry - benzene reactions)..like i now know why purple is the colour of royalty! very interesting..and how a german organic chemist is linked to the french mauve period... then just yesterday was our organic chem prac...super traumatising..(those doing SPA don't complain!!) instructions were written in 2 huge paragraphs...we used so many foreign apparatus...had to extract caffine out of black tea leaves...but quite interesting i have to admit...and while he did the lab briefing he was so funny... :) he's now officially my favourite prof in school..asst. prof rupert wilmouth....
lost 2 precious things...made me SO upset... :( one is my right contact lens...ARGH!! but i got one new pair made and found out my degree increased...so did my astig!! double ARGH!!! now it's so expensive....then i lost my thumb drive!!! triple ARGH!!! i have no idea...but i can't find it anywhere...i think it must have slipped out of my bag while i was taking something out...sigh~ and it contains my lab report!! now i'll have to do it all over again...
my sis bought sex and the city season 6 part one DVD! haha..had a marathon session yesterday...=) it gets more explicit..but more interesting...imagine if your long time boyfriend dumped you via a post it note that read 'i'm sorry, i can't - don't hate me'....brutal...
miss going to church...although i've been going..short for yesterday since i was stuck at NTU..and melody chaired a second time and i wasn't there to hear her again...sigh~
there has been much talk about the special education scene in singapore..which i'm SO happy about!! =) more money, more publicity, increased awareness, more media converage..and even PM Lee was the initiator...now more schools are opening...more teachers are getting trained and so more children who previously cannot attend these special schools now can go receive an education...there is a special emphasis on autism..which all of us at clay aiken singapore are so excited over...
speaking of which...clay's coming up with a new book, titled Learning to Sing - Hearing the Music in your Life.
reading all the spoilers...(book will be out in oct..)..argh! i wanna get it ASAP! =) plus a new CD..out nov 16th..it's a christmas CD..can't wait....plus a 2005 calendar..and the Aladdin special edition DVD, which features a brand new song sung by clay...
Proud of Your Boy
Proud of your boy -
I’ll make you proud of your boy.
Believe me bad as I’ve been ma,
You’re in for a pleasant surprise.
I’ve wasted time.
I’ve wasted me.
So say I’m slow for my age,
A late bloomer –OK I agree
That I’ve been one rotten kid.
Some son, some pride and some joy,
But I’ll get over these lousin’ up, messin’ up, screwin’ up times.
You see ma, now comes the better part.
Someone’s gonna make good – cross his stupid heart.
Make good and finally make you
Proud of your boy.
Tell me that I’ve been a louse and a loafer –
You won’t get a fight here, no ma’am.
Say I’m a goldbrick, a goof-off, no good –
But that couldn’t be all that I am.
Water flows under the bridge –
Let it pass, let it go.
There’s no good reason that you should believe me -
Not yet, I know.
But some day and soon
I’ll make you proud of your boy,
Though I can’t make myself taller or smarter or handsome or wise.
I’ll do my best – what else can I do? -
Since I wasn’t born perfect like dad or you.
Mom I will try to
Try hard to make you
Proud of your boy.
i'll go broke by the end of this year...better start saving money now! =)
i started wondering if everything happens for a reason...because we know all of us are inter-connected in one way or another..so are all our actions dependent on one another's? when i decide to do something, does it affect others? if i didn't come to NTU's SBS, would another person be hence admitted into the school? and things that happen in our daily lives, do they happen for a reason which we may or may not know yet, or are they just random acts, uncontrollable and inevitable?
if i hadn't lose my contact lens, then i would not have known i needed astig lenses to correct my rising astig degree..thus saving my vision...
if i hadn't started watching american idol, i wouldn't have fallen in love with clay's voice, followed his career and his inspiration to engage in volunteering at autism children's centre, working on their fund raising stall at padang, and thus joined welfare services club and put my time to greater use...instead of pursuing my own interest, for my sake, for ME...and by putting myself not at top priority..i learned to priortise...
and if i hadn't got rejected by faculty of medicine, (preferred NTU to NUS), and gotten the MOE teaching award, i wouldn't be engaged in so many activities in NTU (4 CCAs...i'm mad...), learnt so much, made so many friends, had time to have fun and not study all the time...which i think is quite impossible for med students..plus i got to stay in hall!! if i had gone to NUS my dad would not have allowed...he'd rather get me a car...
i can think of so much more examples in my life... but ultimately, i'm thinking it's the will of God, God's plan that he has for all His children. such a carefully thought out plan which He reveals to us bit by bit..and the challenging thing for us is probably to understand it...and feel it...some acts may be completely random, or just due to our own stupidity
..(as i quote from prof wilmouth...talking about a permanent caffine stain on our lab coats if we didn't follow instructions and pressure in the vaccuum filter funnel caused it to spurt out..)..like tripping over stuff...but in matters of importance...His hand is leading...in all His soverignity...
