i always fear the day i die without doing the things i want to do or seeing the things i want to see or experience the things i want to experience...

i don't know where that came from...

anyway i'm back from my hainan island trip...i loved it...FYI hainan island is located south of hongkong..and is part of china. about 5 times the size of singapore...miss world paegent 2003 and 2004 was held there...in the city of sanya...very pretty...just like hawaii 'cos it has beautiful beaches backed by mountains.

it was a package tour..organised by 95.8FM...dun get me wrong..i'm not an avid supporter or auntie...it's my mum...and we've been meaning to go to hainan island to visit relatives...long distant relatives..yes my dad's a hainanese..so i'm part hainanese...mum's hokkien. thought don't ask me to speak hainanese 'cos i only know 'eat', 'bathe', 'watch tv', 'i'm 19 years old' and the numbers one to ten. haha~

anyway we visited many attractions..it has its very unique rustic charms...no major shopping...think it'll be lovely if i could just go there with a loved one..just lie on the beach..listen to the waves..look at the stars at night...the weather's perfect...at air con temp...the sand's so white and fine and soft...the distant boats dotting the horizon..the occasional fireworks (illegal vendors were selling them..and i mean national day fireworks kind..not those fire crackers we pop during new year's at home)...and you turn around and see people walking...eating yummy seafood...it's really nice and it beats phuket or tioman because of its perfect weather...just a 3 hr plane ride away...

my tour guide kept making fun of my dimples...and the fact that i'm sometimes clueless when it came to traditional chinese cultures...anyway he's a very gd guide 'cos he's not boring like the ones i had in other countries and the one i had in shanghai... he's super humorous and u can't help by laugh. and on my bus we have this uncle who's a taxi driver..and he kinda talks too much...which is gd cos he'll banter with our guide and it's damn funny...sometimes we have political jokes about china's politicians...abt. singapore..censored 'yellow' topics...it's entertaining...and not to mention he's very smart and knowledgable...having studied chinese history, literature and political science in guanzhou university. starting to gush about him.......oh..and he wears nice stuff..jeans and polo ralph lauren polo shirts.

ok..maybe i should stop...later someone who may be reading this will get jealous...=)

anyway...i wanna go back some day...

before the trip..went for youth conference...it was moving..and it was a step in my faith...to learn about not loving the world...about God's love...it was moving..and motivating...thanks to the pastors, the teachers, the comm members, the helpers...for making it possible...pastor got us to memorise verses....

"I write to you young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one."

must memorise more...

and there's the disability awareness carnival..which i had so much fun helping out at the AAS booth...and got to watch taufik, sly and olinda perform..and first hand experience with crazy teen groupies of sly...it's a nightmare i tell you...but all 3 sang well...

and the russian national orchestra concert. it was very very good! min lee wasn't as captivating and stunning as i thought she would be..judging by those rave reviews she gets all around...her violin concerto just didn't come forth as an attempt gd enough for her level of virtuosity...but the orchestra was superb! loved loved loved their 1812 overture...i've always loved the piece...but this is the first time i'm hearing it live...thought the bass drum didn't imitate the cannons well...the sound was quite bleah...not as resonating...

ETA: i just watched you've got mail...am always a sucker for such movies..so sue me...oh and i got my results...3As and 2 Bs..reminded me of something teacher chen kee said to me...she told me her greatest joy was to see me come to church and walk with the Lord...and she encouraged me to continue to grow in my faith...and that understanding school work (bio) and schrodinger (i was complaining to her about that horrid module of mine...) and it did... i understood..and i got an A...not that the grade matters...i'd like to think that i'd still thank the Lord and praise Him even if i get crap results..because everything is part of His plan and He is in control...
