just came back from a day of absolute pampering. facial at modern beauty salon with linhui plus shopping and eating around town. spent a preposterous amount of money on somemore facial treatments, a pore minimiser, a new top from forever 21 and food! 3 girls only paid $25 at spageddies, thanks to UOB's 1-for-1 dining privileges.
if only everyday was such a taitai life.
i hate my blackheads. no matter how hard the beautician tugs at them, they refuse to pop out of my huge pores. it was so painful that i teared uncontrollably. some kind of reflex action i think.
which makes me wonder how much a woman is willing to go through for the sake of beauty. the amount of time, money and pain.
just so they can be judged in a good way by society. by men. who think beauty is defined by a pretty face, fabulous hair and a slim shapely body complete with a nice ass and moderately big boobs.
some guys can actually say, "you know what, she'll be beautiful if only she was slimmer". or something along those lines.
i'm appalled.
and yet sometimes i do things that would allow me to be socially accepted. don't most of us?
it does take a lot of courage to be who you are in a world where people may judge you based on your appearance. that's why i admire my sister a lot. she's not afraid of what people think of her. she would wear whatever she wants even if it doesn't flatter her body. she'll colour her hair in the most outrageous colour and cut her hair in the most funky hairstyle (it does help that her hairstylist is gay) and not afraid of being judged by people as being an ah lian or being wild party girl.
so i shall strive to be a woman like that.
i still think guys who define beauty on outward terms all need a new pair of eyes.
but just had a thought. some women who go for facials and plastic surgery do so to feel good about themselves. in some way i applaud them for doing that. since some people do think that going for plastic surgery makes you pretty pathetic (pun unintended), so them going for it means they do not care of what others think. and in some ways, they are willing to spend all that money to feel better about themselves, how different is it from the rest of us who spend money on nice food, nice clothes, ice cream and chocolate so we can feel better (about ourselves)?
well, i will not spend that money on plastic surgery (it's way too expensive anyway). anyway we should always be thankful of our God-given gifts and traits, and that includes our outward appearance.
incoherent ramblings stop here. pray that friday is a bright sunny beach-weather day! :)
