ok. so we're here at the
start point of madness. i can imagine some people slapping me awake and going "hello, madness started in week 1 of school."
and it's week 6.
s-i-x. means it's 8 weeks to end of school and 9 to exams.
week 6. with 6 modules. it's in times like these i realise i need the Lord so much more than before. i find myself praying for strength every single night.
ypg last saturday was a discussion on
spiritual sluggishness. the world's slowest organism is a sloth. so shouldn't it be slothness? pastor mitch was illustrating sluggishness with those after-lunch hours and i can totally relate to that. whenever a lecture or studying session follows after lunch, you'll definitely find me slumped on my table. yes i'm a slug sometimes. i wonder other than coffee, what can cure after-lunch sluggishness because i ought to stop sleeping during lectures and study sessions.
anyway spiritual sluggishness is something i can totally relate to too. it's kind of amazing how pastor mitch can identify real problems in our walk with God and make sure we address those concerns. that's why ypg is always so helpful and useful and thought-provoking.
i really need to
stop sleeping at the wrong times. and not fall asleep because i see one of my friends sleeping soundly away beside me. hurhur you know who you are. in fact you're beside me now! but not sleeping. ok but you just mentioned you feel like going home to sleep. ie. skip cancer lecture. =)
ok back to topic.
madness equals assignments, tutorials and lab reports. and studying for exams. and understanding horrendously difficult but fascinating subjects. which results in my love-hate relationship with them. human genetics labs have been so nice. we plucked out our own hair and analyzed the DNA from the roots. a la CSI! we sequenced part of our DNA and got results. turns out i have a bunch of ALU repeats which are useless. then we collected our own cheek cells and we're gonna do a huntington's disease analysis on our DNA. which is quite controversial because a simple genetic analysis that we're doing can ascertain our genetic predisposition towards the disease. which has no known cure. yes just like AIDs. our seniors, 4 of them had that predisposition. and i wonder if the school actually informed them.
which led me to remember this thought i had when the
human genome was sequenced a few years back. whether, if given the opportunity, i would want to have my DNA sequenced and know what kind of freaky diseases that i may get when i get older. like i have the myopia gene and i'm pretty sure i have the high blood pressure gene since both my parents have it. i may come to know that i'll only live till 50 and die of some cancer. or live a long time because i have the gene for long life.
and i wonder what all these means in
God's plan. somehow i think He puts part of His plan into our DNA. which is really wonderful and amazing. because our DNA shapes a huge part of who we are and what we look like and how we behave and all that jazz. it controls so many things and determines so many things. so knowing our DNA sequence means part of His plan will be revealed to us prematurely. hmmm.
ok i have no conclusions.
i'm just tired from doing my report.
ok seeing her sleep beside me makes me wanna sleep. see what i mean. ok NO. no sleeping.
my new cancer prof's last name is featherstone. how cute.
ohman. i have idiots for bosses. stop annoying me!!ok end of rant.
